Woodcraft magazine- how to build a dulcimer [editorial feature + video]
This is Dave.
Dave is that real life Ron Swanson (minus the surliness and love affair with bacon) who can:
cut down a tree.
make the tree into boards.
make the boards into a dulcimer.
And then PLAY THE DAMN DULCIMER.
It's always one of my favorite shoots of the year when I get to work with Dave and Woodcraft magazine on a feature. This time, as you might have guessed, the article was "how to make your own dulcimer"- and you can find it in the most recent issue of Woodcraft.
What made this shoot a little extra special is that it gave me the opportunity to play with video too. I typically leave video to my cinematographer buddies, but this one was just Dave and I with most of the emphasis on the photos, so I took advantage of spare moments to grab pieces of motion between photos.
I overlaid an audio track of Dave playing the dulcimer- so yes, that's him you're hearing. :) I'm pretty happy with how it turned out, especially since it's my first solo video project and I had spent very little time in premier learning how to edit before this.
Looking forward to playing more next year, and to more shoots showing Dave's craftsman hands doing the amazing things they do.
