Jesus Jam

I decided to take a little break from my 'how to make a photonovel' series. I have pictures from a beautiful night that I need to share before more time passes.

I was asked to take photos for "Jesus Jam"- an event that acts out Jesus in I think the truest fashion you can, celebrating and loving those often overlooked among us. And it's a cool event that I think even the adamantly non-religious can find beauty in; an evening designed to make folks with special needs feel loved, have fun, make friends, and of course DANCE.

My good friend Molly has put this together for the past couple of years (with a fantastic team of volunteers, of course).  She one of the kindest hearts I know.

She's a young college student, which goes to show you're never too young or inexperienced to spark big things. And I'm so honored to know her and to have been there for the 2nd year to help document the night.

Jesus Jam was held at College Heights Christian Church and was themed 'Night at the Museum'. Volunteers lined the halls to greet and cheer the guests. Every guest paired up with a buddy for the night... then ate, got pics done at a photobooth, played games, and joined the massive dance party.

Many of the guests look forward to this all year. The excitement on their faces as they walk in the building to the sounds of claps and cheers is so fun. And there is such a genuine level of sweetness from most of these folks- like Willy, the guy pictured here who hugs every single person in line.

I need to learn from that.
