Me Like Bees music video:: behind the scenes
A couple of weeks ago, I wrote about conquering fear in my art with a new project. This week, I just want to show a sneak peek at that project, a music video featuring indie-popsters "Me Like Bees" and directed by comic book superhero (er, creator) Jeremy Haun.
Let me say up front:: you don't get to see the video itself till late summer/early fall. But if you'd still like to get a feel for the band, check em out on Spotify, iTunes, or on their website. If you appreciate what I call the core sound of the first wave of 00s indie music- the pre-diluted days of Modest Mouse and the Killers- these are your guys.
scouting
Any good video shoot begins with a good scouting trip, so Jeremy and I set out one afternoon to find the spots we wanted to use that had the right post-apocalyptic feel.
The Joplin Train Depot is an obvious first choice. The last time this spot was actually used as a train station in Joplin was 1969. The break-up of the Beatles wasn't far behind. Must've been something terrible in the air that year.
We found a snake. I shot some video of it. And these photos. it totally lunged at me and
Jeremy and I about pooped ourselves. #PRODUCTIONVALUE

SHOOT DAY
introducing...the band. In full apocalyptic road warrior gear.
The shoot day was hot but fantastic. From poring through the storyboards to final location, here's some behind the scene captured by a variety of phones (Ivy you definitely got the most, thank you), showing the fun and chaos of the day.
Had fun looking through these? Want to know what the video looks like, what the full project is all about, and how that new Me Like Bees song will tickle your ears? Well, stay tuned of course... I'll keep you posted on that good stuff in due time. :)
